Cattle per Acre: Determining the appropriate stocking rate depends on forage availability, which is influenced by soil type, rainfall, and pasture management. In Oklahoma, a general guideline is to stock 1 animal unit (AU) per 6 to 12 acres on native rangeland. An animal unit is typically one mature cow with or without a calf. It's essential to assess the specific forage production of your land to establish an optimal stocking rate.
